<p><strong>Panhandle Pioneer Settlement</strong> will host its <strong>eighth annual quilt show</strong>, <strong>&#8220;Everlasting Stitches&#8221;</strong>, this <strong>Saturday, May 2</strong>, from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. CDT. There is a $3.00 admission charge.</p>
<p>The great thing about this quilt show is that everyone can have their quilts displayed during the show. Bring your quilts &#8212; old, new, large, small, hand-stitched, or machine-made &#8212; to the Frink Gym at the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement between 1:00 and 4:00 P.M. on Friday, and you can pick them up at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday. <p>Panhandle Pioneer Settlement is a living museum documenting rural life in Northwest Florida since the early 1800s. It is located in Sam Atkins Park, about 1 mile west of the intersection of Hwy 71 and Hwy 20. Follow Hwy 20 west out of Blountstown and look for the signs for Sam Atkins Park. Turn north at Lindy’s Fried Chicken (Silas Green Street) and follow the signs.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://panhandlehistoricalliance.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/heritage-hmnf.gif" alt="heritage-hmnf" title="heritage-hmnf" width="138" height="108" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-143" /><strong>Saturday, April 25, 2009, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.</strong> in <strong>Perrine Park</strong> and at the <strong>Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida</strong> in Historic Old Valparaiso.</p>
<p>Saturday in the Park is a <strong>free</strong> community festival featuring artists, craftspeople, and live entertainment, including country, blues, jazz and ethnic music, a variety of cultural dance troupes, storytellers, children’s crafts, petting zoo, historical exhibits, traditional trade demonstrations, museum tours, and food vendors. There will also be a Kid’s Country Corner, featuring old fashioned games &#038; toys, bubble gum blowing, watermelon eating contests, folk art crafts and more!</p>
<p>The <strong>Panhandle Heritage 5K &#038; Kids’ 1 Mile Fun Run</strong> will kick off the festival at 7 a.m. with a run around old Valparaiso. See the Heritage Museum&#8217;s <a href="http://www.heritage-museum.org">website</a> for registration information.</p>

<p>The official dedication of the Cape St. George Light in <a href="http://www.seestgeorgeisland.com/">St. George Lighthouse Park</a> at mid-island begins on Saturday, April 4, at 10 A.M. The ceremony will be followed by free climbing at the lighthouse, and a fundraiser including a chicken barbeque, music, and a silent auction.  The idea is to &#8220;dedicate&#8221; in the morning, and &#8220;Party&#8221; in the afternoon.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Activities will fill the grounds all day, including a pottery ground firing, wheel  throwing, student competition, a children’s craft area, and gallery tours of the Indian Temple Mound Museum. Staff’s restaurant  is providing seafood and beer with a portion of proceeds donated to the museum. The event is on rain or shine.</p>
<p>Heritage Park and Cultural Center is located  at 139 Miracle Strip Parkway in historic downtown Fort Walton Beach.</p>
